Green Town Project, Blaenau Ffestiniog

The Green Town Project (Y Dref Werdd) was established under the wing of Bowydd and Rhiw Communities First, to enable the people of Blaenau Ffestiniog to use their local environment as a resource. During our first year we facilitated community planning processes and actions to bring people together who were interested in particular areas. The allotment group came about through this process....

Most people joining our Transition group gave ‘growing food’ as the thing they most wanted to take action on. I approached the council to ask for a large piece of land, and they gave us several options on existing allotment sites. We now have a smallholding site on one allotment (Bedminster Down ‘C’), and a standard plot on another allotment (Redcatch) – they are at opposite ends of the area...

Transition Brixton Urban Garden

As part of an artist residency for The South London Gallery working with neighbouring Sceaux Gardens Estate I set up a Development Think Tank (Fun) Club. We established 8 groups, one of which was Food + Growing, and created an allotment garden on the estate.
Quaker Community Garden
